Alongside his concert, recording and touring work, Vov Dylan continues to accept selected private, corporate and special-event engagements throughout Australia and internationally.
From solo violin and intimate chamber ensembles to Palace Orchestra and larger-scale musical presentations, each engagement is individually developed around the occasion, venue and audience. Drawing on decades of professional performance experience and an extensive repertoire spanning classical, salon, popular, world and contemporary music, Vov can provide anything from a single musical moment to the complete musical component of an event.
For larger engagements, the service can extend beyond performance to include musician contracting, repertoire planning, musical arrangements, preparation and distribution of charts, equipment requirements and performance coordination — providing clients with a single point of contact from initial planning through to the event itself.
Whether for a wedding, corporate event, private celebration, gala, launch or significant occasion, the objective remains the same: music that suits the moment, professionally delivered.
Performance OptionsOne of the distinctive features of Vov Dylan's event performances is the breadth of musical combinations available. Developed through decades of performance experience, the ensembles range from traditional classical line-ups to more unusual combinations of strings, piano, guitar, accordion, bass and percussion. Each combination has its own sound, character and natural scale. Guest numbers, room size, acoustics and the role the music will play all influence which ensemble will work best. A duo that creates the perfect atmosphere for an intimate gathering may simply disappear acoustically in a room of several hundred people, while a larger ensemble can overwhelm conversation in a smaller setting. The guest numbers below are therefore provided as a practical guide based on performance experience rather than rigid limits. Venue acoustics, amplification, repertoire and whether the music is intended as background or featured entertainment will also influence the most appropriate choice. Vov can recommend a combination based on the venue, guest numbers, repertoire and atmosphere required. |
SOLO VIOLIN | The most intimate and flexible option. Solo violin is particularly suited to wedding ceremonies, proposals, smaller celebrations, cocktail settings and occasions where music is intended to create atmosphere without dominating the room. With an extensive repertoire spanning classical favourites, popular standards, contemporary music and requests, the programme can be shaped closely around the occasion. |
DUO | Duos provide the intimacy and flexibility of a small ensemble while introducing greater harmonic and musical variety. Recommended guest range: 20 - 80 |
| Violin & Cello | A classic string combination with warmth, depth and elegance. Particularly suited to ceremonies, formal occasions and intimate events where a traditional chamber sound is desired. |
| Violin & Guitar | A versatile combination with a lighter and more contemporary character. The guitar adds both harmony and rhythm, allowing the repertoire to move comfortably between classical, popular, Latin, European and contemporary styles. |
| Violin & Piano | One of the most versatile combinations available, capable of moving from classical repertoire and romantic favourites through to Broadway, popular standards and contemporary music. Particularly effective where the music is intended to be a feature of the occasion as well as provide atmosphere. A suitable piano or access to power for a professional digital instrument is required. |
TRIO | Three-piece ensembles offer considerably greater musical range while remaining compact enough for most event spaces. Recommended guest range: 60 - 180 |
| Violin, Guitar & Double Bass | One of the most popular and versatile combinations. The violin provides melody, guitar adds harmonic and rhythmic flexibility, and double bass gives the ensemble depth and momentum. Equally comfortable providing sophisticated background music or becoming a more energetic part of the celebration, this ensemble can move across popular standards, European and Latin repertoire, world music and contemporary favourites. |
| 2 Violins & Double Bass | A distinctive alternative to the traditional string trio. Two violins provide richness and flexibility in the upper voices while the double bass adds depth and a strong rhythmic foundation. Particularly effective for waltzes, salon repertoire, European favourites, classical selections and elegant background music, it combines the refinement of a string ensemble with a noticeably different musical character. |
| 2 Violins & Cello | The traditional string-trio sound: warm, balanced and classically elegant. An excellent choice for wedding ceremonies, formal receptions and occasions where a refined chamber-music atmosphere is desired. |
| Violin, Piano & Double Bass | An elegant combination with considerable repertoire flexibility. Piano provides harmonic richness while double bass adds warmth and depth beneath the violin. Particularly suited to cocktail parties, dinners, receptions and occasions requiring sophisticated music with a little more presence than a traditional chamber ensemble. |
QUARTET | Four-piece ensembles provide greater musical presence and allow for more developed arrangements, making them particularly effective for larger rooms, substantial receptions and occasions where the ensemble itself forms part of the experience. Recommended guest range: over 150 |
| 2 Violins, Cello & Double Bass | A variation on the traditional string quartet, replacing the second violin/viola balance with the added depth and presence of double bass. The result is a full, elegant string sound with greater weight in the lower register — particularly effective for ceremonies, formal occasions, waltzes, salon repertoire and larger spaces. |
| 2 Violins, Guitar & Double Bass | Combining strings with guitar gives this ensemble a more rhythmic and international character. Particularly suited to European, Latin, popular and world repertoire while retaining the elegance of a string-led ensemble. |
| Violin, Cello, Guitar & Double Bass | A rich combination bringing together the warmth of cello and double bass with the rhythmic versatility of guitar and the melodic voice of the violin. This line-up offers considerable flexibility across classical, salon, European, Latin, world and popular repertoire. |
| Violin, Guitar, Piano & Double Bass | One of the broadest musical combinations available. With both piano and guitar providing harmonic and rhythmic possibilities, the ensemble can move comfortably between elegant background music, standards, popular repertoire, world music and more featured performance.
This is particularly useful for events requiring different musical moods as the occasion progresses. |
| Violin, Guitar, Drums & Double Bass | A more contemporary and rhythmically driven ensemble. Adding drums transforms the character of the group, making it particularly effective where the music needs to move from atmosphere into entertainment and dancing. The combination retains violin as the principal melodic voice while providing the energy and drive of a rhythm section. |
ADDITIONAL INSTRUMENTS | |
| Piano Accordion | Adds a distinctive European and continental character, particularly effective for French, Italian, Eastern European, Latin and traditional repertoire. |
| Piano Vocalist | Combines instrumental accompaniment with vocals, opening the programme to classic songs, standards, stage repertoire and audience favourites. |
| Singers | Classical, musical theatre and popular vocalists can be incorporated where appropriate, whether for a featured performance, ceremony or larger entertainment programme. |
| Drums / Percussion | Can be added where greater rhythmic energy is required, particularly for receptions, celebrations and events that move towards dancing later in the programme. |
| Brass | Additional orchestral instruments can broaden both the repertoire and scale of the ensemble, particularly for larger arrangements and featured performances. |
| Palace Orchestra | For events requiring greater musical and visual impact, Palace Orchestra or a bespoke larger ensemble can be assembled around the requirements of the occasion. Instrumentation can range from an expanded chamber group through to an orchestra of approximately 30 musicians, with repertoire, arrangements and personnel coordinated as part of the overall musical service. |
| Guest Performers | Vocalists, dancers and other guest artists can also be incorporated into a bespoke programme, allowing the musical presentation to become a larger entertainment feature where required. |
