Classically trained, Vov never took the usual route out of the classical world. Instead of leaving it behind for other styles, he built a career across classical repertoire, salon music, world music and popular traditions — all on the belief that if a piece of music means something to someone, it has worth.
A Vov Dylan performance is a celebration of the violin through music that is entertaining, emotionally engaging and rich in variety. Serious about the music without being precious about it, his concerts are designed to feel less like a lecture and more like an evening in a friend's living room.

That belief drives Australia's Musical Canvas, his long-term project dedicated to performing, recording and helping build a living body of Australian repertoire. Alongside this sits Vov Dylan Compositions, his own growing catalogue of works for violin and piano. Together, these projects seek not only to introduce audiences to new music, but to ensure that the music continues to live beyond its first performance — taken up by performers, teachers and audiences for generations to come.
Recording has always been central to that vision. While performances create moments, recordings allow those moments to endure. Spanning classical repertoire, contemporary Australian music and crossover projects, Vov's recordings are created not simply to document performances, but to become lasting companions for listeners and reference points for musicians discovering the music for themselves.
Based in Sydney and performing nationally and internationally, Vov has spent decades teaching and mentoring musicians, while also contributing to community initiatives through projects such as Keys of Change. Whether in the concert hall, the classroom or the wider community, the underlying belief remains the same: music connects people, creates opportunity and enriches lives.
