THE BAND PLAYED ON: MUSIC FROM THE TITANICOn the 10th of April 1912 the RMS Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage. Over 100 years later the story and the legend of the very brief voyage of the Titanic has continued to grow and fascinate every generation since. One of the legends of the Titanic is that of the musicians - the band that continued to play on deck while the ship sank around them in order to help provide peace and calm in a time that was anything but. VOV DYLAN and members of THE PALACE ORCHESTRA recreate on stage the band and the music as played on the Titanic as “THE BAND PLAYED ON”. All musical selections are taken from “The White Star Line Songbook” - and all pieces are still well known today. In this show you hear period arrangements of numbers like: The Blue Danube, Pavane, Humoresque, The Can Can, Tales Of Hoffman, William Tell Overture, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Alexanders Ragtime Band, Ave Maria and Nearer My God To Thee (the fabled very last number). THE BAND PLAYED ON is peppered with anecdotes and stories that are often not known, and audiences can expect so sway, laugh, sing and want to dance along to the melodies being played - as the worlds most famous cruise ship has its Show, Party and Cafe Orchestra recreated for modern audiences. |
